Liverpool have done it. They have finally won an away game in the Premier League this season.

This was more like the Liverpool of old, with Jurgen Klopp's men turning on the style in the first half.

The Reds may have only won 2-1 in the end, but there were plenty of positives against Tottenham with the Merseyside outfit finally beginning to build some momentum.

They ended Napoli's remarkable 21-game unbeaten run in midweek and then defeated a Spurs side usually so sharp on home soil.

However, Liverpool's game plan was excellent, particularly in the first half. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson returned to form on the flanks, with a large part of their strategy down to how often they got forward.

Ultimately, it was two goals from Mo Salah that separated the teams with the Egyptian also looking back to his best. Indeed, the wing wizard has now scored nine times in his last eight outings, dating back to that hat-trick versus Rangers.

Although Salah deserves every inch of praise for his recent form and performance against Tottenham, it was Ibrahima Konate who truly stole the show.

In what was just the Frenchman's first start in the league this season, he demonstrated why he now has to start alongside the imperious Virgil van Dijk.

The 23-year-old was a "machine" in the words of former footballer George Chomakov with Opta Analyst describing it as a "huge display" from the defender.

He did eventually concede from the boot of Harry Kane but apart from that, it was a colossal performance from Konate.

During the course of the game, he sniffed out opposition attacks with great regularity, winning a whopping 11 defensive duels - seven in the air and four on the ground.

That was a game-high total from the centre-back who also won back possession 11 times, again the highest tally on the pitch.

It was a monstrous performance from the former RB Leipzig man who in 87 touches, made a mammoth eight clearances, while producing two interceptions and winning three tackles.

It was a near-complete performance from the young centre-half, with only a clean sheet having the potential to make his evening any better.

Resolute and solid at the back, Klopp must now be praying that Konate can stay fit. More performances like this, alongside an already consistent Van Dijk, will frighten plenty of strikers in the division.
