Liverpool will be without five of their key players for today's fixture against West Ham, Jurgen Klopp has revealed.

After their 2-1 win in the FA Cup fifth round against Norwich City on Wednesday, it's been a difficult few days at Anfield, with Curtis Jones and Joel Matip since becoming unavailable for selection today due to a thigh problem and illness respectively.

They join Roberto Firmino (groin), Naby Keita (unknown) and Thiago Alcantara (hamstring) on the sidelines for the time being, but it is believed that none of the five injuries will keep them out for much longer.

Speaking to the media on Friday ahead of today's fixture, Klopp said: "I'm pretty sure that nobody will tell me differently, because he didn't trained yesterday, that Thiago will not be available for tomorrow.

"Curtis is not bad but if it's good enough to go again tomorrow, I don't know. Joel Matip is ill. Not covid but he won't be available. We played a tough game midweek so we still wait a little bit to see how everyone is in each moment.

"All of a sudden from eight midfielders, Naby we don't know, to three or four midfielders in a week. That can happen easily.

"Bobby is looking good but not for the weekend. The plan is he trains on Sunday for first time full."

The news will come as a blow to Reds fans, with a worryingly high number of injuries beginning to take hold again, particularly in midfield. Klopp would surely have liked to have his strongest squad for what promises to be a tough clash against West Ham, who are one of only two teams to beat Liverpool in any competition this season.

With the Irons still in the hunt for a Champions League place at the end of the season, they will be well up to dent the Reds' title hopes at Anfield this evening. Klopp's task has been made more difficult by the spate of absences which have cropped up in recent days, and Kopites could be especially gutted to hear that the injury-prone Thiago and Keita have been afflicted once more.
