Liverpool are in desperate need to start picking up more points in the Premier League, and when they travel to north London for their clash against Arsenal today, Jurgen Klopp must make the right decisions in terms of team selection to inspire a positive result for his side.

The Reds are 13 points off the top of the table and 11 adrift of today's opponents, so taking points from Mikel Arteta's side has rarely been more important.

As a result, it can be expected that the German might deploy a similar formation to the one seen at Anfield on Tuesday night against Rangers, with the manager opting for a 4-4-2 which led to a comfortable 2-0 victory.

Identifying the players who will give the Merseysiders their best chance to take all three points from the Emirates Stadium is essential, and one player who Klopp must ditch from his starting line-up for this game is Darwin Nunez.

The £140k-per-week striker, who joined Liverpool this summer, struggled to find the net against Rangers in the Champions League despite having four shots on target against the Light Blues; and although Klopp may be keen to give Nunez the nod, there are two other attacking players in the squad who have been talismanic against the Gunners.

Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino have tallied huge numbers against Arsenal over their appearances against the north London club, and without a doubt they should be deployed in the 4-4-2 formation expected to be seen again at the Emirates.

The Brazilian number nine has scored nine goals and delivered three assists in his 16 meetings against the Gunners, whilst Jota has scored eight in 11 appearances against the north London club, so it appears a no-brainer that both should start in the most advanced positions in Liverpool's team today.

In addition, Firmino is currently in excellent goalscoring form, netting five goals to match Mohammed Salah as the Reds' joint-top scorer so far this season, further proving that the 31-year-old could be the better option to start this afternoon.

Nunez has already had his critics for some of his performances for Liverpool, with legendary former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger claiming that it "hasn't worked out" so far for the Uruguayan when analysing the striker's initial impact at Anfield.

He has scored just twice in eight matches so far for the Reds, with the most recent of those goals coming just over two months ago in the 2-2 draw at Fulham.

Despite his struggles, the talented 23-year-old will have plenty of opportunities to prove his worth over the season ahead,. However, when it comes to the Arsenal clash today, there are much more experienced forwards in the squad who know exactly how to beat Arteta's in-form team, and they ought to be preferred here.
