Liverpool have found themselves struggling in the Premier League this season and Jurgen Klopp will surely be searching for solutions to bring his team back to life over the second half of the season.

The Reds are currently eighth in the top flight table after drawing with Chelsea at Anfield yesterday in another uninspiring performance in front of the home support and their poor efforts have now left them ten points adrift from a Champions League qualifying spot inside the top four.

Indeed, the January transfer window is still open for Liverpool to take advantage of the opportunity to bolster their squad ahead of their remaining fixtures, however, after signing Cody Gakpo earlier this month it is looking unlikely that the Merseyside giants will be signing any more players at this time.

The focus of concern has been in the centre of the pitch with a rebuild in midfield becoming a pressing issue for the Reds as a number of players are coming to the end of their contracts this summer whilst some of those remaining are coming to the latter stages of their careers.

A reported double swoop for Jude Bellingham and Matheus Nunes has been mooted for the summer, whilst Mason Mount and Declan Rice have both been linked with a move to Merseyside so the club are not without hope when it comes to strengthening with quality midfielders in the months ahead.

However, Klopp will need results right now if Liverpool are to have any chance of stealing a qualification spot in the Champions League and may already have their own Rice in the squad, a player who could save the club millions when the time comes to refresh their midfield.

Liverpool academy graduate Stefan Bajcetic has been impressing his manager since becoming a regular feature in the squad since being promoted to the first team this season.

Bajcetic earned a starting role in the clash with Chelsea on Saturday after putting in a fantastic performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup earlier in the week.

Over his 82-minute performance vs Graham Potter's side, the 18-year-old rising star - who was dubbed "outstanding" by Klopp - made two key passes, completed 50% of his aerial duels and crosses, as well as making two interceptions, one clearance and winning one tackle.

It was an eye-catching all-round display, one that Rice would no doubt have been impressed with himself had he registered those numbers.

Despite only making four Premier League appearances, Bajcetic has already shown that he can match a number of qualities that the West Ham ace has displayed this season, including goals scored (1 v 1), dribble success rate (50% v 50%), aerial duels won (3 v 3) and shot-creating actions per 90 minutes (4.54 v 3.20).

With that being said, the future is looking bright for Bajcetic at Anfield and if Klopp can continue to nurture the youngster he could become part of the midfield refresh Liverpool desperately need.
