Liverpool handed huge injury boost with Luis Diaz

Liverpool have had their fair share of injury issues over the season so far and now a huge boost has been handed to Jurgen Klopp during the World Cup break as a new update emerges.

What’s the latest?

According to South American journalist Pipe Sierra (via The Anfield Talk), Luis Diaz will be able to return to action in the Dubai Cup friendlies over the next few weeks.

Sierra revealed:

“He came to the national team headquarters to go through rehab & to enjoy some holidays. He has returned to Liverpool to finalise the process of rehab. The expectation is that Luis Diaz will be part of the squad that goes to Dubai.”

Klopp will be buzzing

There is no doubt that the Liverpool manager will be absolutely buzzing to have one of his key players back in the team ahead of their return to action in the Premier League after Christmas.

It is certainly a huge boost for the manager, supporters and the squad as Diaz has rapidly become one of the most important components in Liverpool’s attacking threat.

The Columbian winger has already scored 10 goals and registered eight assists in 38 appearances for Liverpool since joining the club in January 2022, with a goal contribution every 148 minutes but it’s not just goals and assists that make Diaz special.

Over 13 Premier League appearances last season, the 25-year-old talent completed 63% of his dribbles, as well as averaging 1.5 key passes, 50.8 touches, two shots on goal and 5.3 duels won per game, proving that he is an absolute nuisance for his opponents and is incredibly hardworking.

The Reds are currently sixth in the league table after collecting just 22 points from a possible 42 in their first 14 outings in the top flight and will need nothing short of a miracle to have any hope of catching up with Arsenal at the top of the table 15 points clear of Liverpool.

How much did Liverpool sell Senegal forward Sadio Mane for in the summer?

With that being said, Klopp will surely be hoping that Diaz can quickly get settled back into his role and make the impact needed to pick up some crucial points in the second half of the season to at least secure Champions League football inside the top four.
