The Anfield side appear to be back on track following a run of three league matches without a win, as it appeared Klopp’s decision not to delve back into the transfer market to sign a midfielder to aid his ailing squad was starting to prove a mistake.
A deadline-day move for Arthur Melo, which saw the Brazilian arrive on loan from Juventus – although not one of his main targets – is still a solid signing to bolster the heart of the Liverpool engine midfield.
Klopp will be expecting to make it three wins on the spin against rivals Everton. Here is how we at Football FanCast expect Klopp to line up his side against the Toffees.
Allison will keep his place in goal surprisingly while the back four from the Newcastle United win will remain intact, with Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk in the heart of defence, flanked by Trent Alexander-Arnold on the right and Andy Robertson on the left.
The midfield three will see two changes with James Milner replacing “elite” talent Harvey Elliot while Fabio Carvalho, fresh from his winner against Newcastle, comes in to replace Jordan Henderson – who suffered an injury during the same match. Fabinho completes the midfield.
The front three will also see a change, with Darwin Nunez completing his three-match suspension, he will replace Roberto Firmino through the middle. Mohammed Salah and Luis Diaz will take up their respective roles on either side of the Uruguayan.
Klopp will want to freshen up the midfield area and the return of the 23-year-old Nunez, who will be desperate to make amends for his sending-off at Crystal Palace, makes sense.
Everton currently languish just one spot above the relegation zone and Liverpool will be overwhelming favourites to win, with Klopp aiming to build momentum ahead of the matches against Napoli in the Champions League and Wolves on league duty over the next week.
