Liverpool are reportedly interested in Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri and the 23-year-old could prove to be the ideal successor to Roberto Firmino in Jurgen Klopp's squad.

What's the word?

According to 90min, Liverpool and Manchester United are asking to be kept informed of his situation at Sevilla after his impressive performances in La Liga this season, whilst West Ham also reportedly made an approach during the January transfer window.

Liverpool's Firmino successor?

Unfortunately for Liverpool, Roberto Firmino has struggled to find the back of the net with much regularity in recent seasons, and whilst his influence in the team cannot be underestimated, he has been guilty of missing some important chances for the Reds in recent fixtures.

The Athletic's James Pearce shared these concerns in his recent article on the Brazilian, suggesting that Liverpool do need to bring in an out-and-out number 9 to the club during the summer transfer window.

En-Nesyri could prove to the perfect man for the job in Klopp's side, having hit 17 goals for Sevilla in all competitions so far this season, averaging a superb 7.08 rating for his performances in the Spanish top-flight.

When comparing the two forwards on FBref, Firmino drastically outscored En-Nesyri when it comes to passing and link-up play, but the Moroccan clearly has the edge when it comes to shooting, which suggests that whilst the Sevilla man is more of a natural goalscorer than the Brazilian, he doesn't possess Firmino's ability to bring the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane into play in dangerous areas.

However, if Klopp does want to change the way his side plays in the future, after their struggles going forward since the turn of the year, then perhaps En-Nesyri could be an excellent addition in the Liverpool attack.

As he is six years younger than Firmino, he could also prove to the Brazilian's long-term successor at Anfield, despite their differing styles of play. If his excellent form with Sevilla continues, then Michael Edwards should definitely consider bringing him to the Premier League in the summer.
