Liverpool have had several World Cup stars in their squad over the years from Michael Owen and Luis Suarez to Virgil van Dijk and Jordan Henderson, the club has always attracted players who take centre stage in international tournaments.

In the Qatar World Cup, the Reds will be represented across several nations by some of the top talents in the team with new signing Darwin Nunez predicted to light up the competition for Uruguay, whilst Brazil are in safe hands with Alisson Becker protecting their goal in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp is set to take his remaining stars to Dubai for some friendlies during the prestigious tournament with many key players missing out including Thiago Alcantara, Mohammed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Luis Diaz and Andrew Robertson, giving the manager plenty of players to work with during the break.

When the Reds return to action after Christmas in the Premier League it will be only one week until the transfer window reopens, where Klopp could strengthen his squad after a difficult start to the season and there could potentially be some standouts at the World Cup who catch the German coach's eye.

The World Cup kicks off today in Qatar with the hosts playing Ecuador in the first game of the tournament, but Kopites will have to wait until Monday to see England star and Liverpool transfer target Jude Bellingham in action against Iran.
