Roberto Firmino grabbed his second Premier League goal of the season in the 3-0 win against Leicester City on Sunday night, although that goal overshadowed what was another disappointing display from the Brazilian.

The former Hoffenheim man added to first-half goals from Diogo Jota, and an own goal from Jonny Evans, by heading home James Milner's corner to seal the three points for the Reds.

This perhaps saved the 29-year-old from earning a lot of critics for his display, as he missed a whole host of chances during the game against Brendan Rodgers' side, although he was unfortunate not to score earlier in the game when he had an effort cleared off the line by a Leicester defender.

As per SofaScore, the Liverpool forward picked up a disappointing 6.6/10 rating for his performance against the Foxes, which was the second-worst of any home player who started the game.

The striker won none of his six aerial duels and lost possession on 10 occasions during the game.

Perhaps most shockingly, he managed to miss four big chances during the game, suggesting that the scoreline should have been a lot more flattering than it actually was, if not for the Brazilian's poor finishing.

Firmino, who earns £180,000-a-week according to Spotrac, is perhaps fortunate that it was such a dominant display from the home side, as he surely would have ended up rueing those missed chances had the game been a lot closer.

Although he did eventually find the back of the net, there can be no denying that it was another disappointing display in front of the goal for the 29-year-old.

Last season saw Firmino score nine goals and contribute eight assists in the Premier League, so he obviously had a big part to play in the Merseyside club's title success but with Diogo Jota continuing his excellent form with another goal against Leicester, you wonder whether the Brazilian forward will keep his place when Mohamed Salah returns to action.

Back in 2015, John Aldridge was extremely critical of the striker after a disappointing display, saying:

“Roberto Firmino is playing as if something is wrong, mentally and physically. He’s been absolutely redundant the last two games after such a great display at Man City."

“It can’t just be the fact his mate [Philippe] Coutinho has been missing.

“Christian Benteke played badly – he was stood outside the box when two good crosses came in, one from [Alberto] Moreno – but it was Firmino who made him look worse.

“Everything Benteke needed from him was absent in a horrible display." (per Goal)

Hopefully, Firmino's late goal will give him a bit more confidence in front of goal for the rest of the season.
