Liverpool: Fabrizio Romano drops transfer update on Danjuma

Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Arnaut Danjuma, and now a new update has emerged on the player’s future from a reliable source.

What’s the latest?

Italian journalist and transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has given an update on Danjuma’s future.

Romano tweeted: “Danjuma’s camp remain ‘relaxed’ as player would be happy to continue at Villarreal next year if no agreement will be found.”

“West Ham were ready to pay €40m, but far away on personal terms.”

FSG must act now

If Liverpool’s interest in the player was genuine, then FSG must act as soon as possible to make sure they can secure the deal before he makes a move elsewhere this summer.

Danjuma has even spoken out on the reported interest from Liverpool telling Ziggo Sport;

“I was informed that Liverpool were following me closely.

“I have never had contacts with clubs or anything like that during the season – I always know about the situation after the season. If a club came along that offered me a higher platform to play on sport-wise, I would always have to consider it.”

It was reported that Liverpool wouldn’t make any more signings this summer, but further reports surrounding doubt around Mohamed Salah’s future and FSG toying with the idea of selling the player to ensure they don’t lose him for free next summer, it could be a chance for the club to get ahead with finding their replacement.

First up, who was Liverpool's top goal scorer this season?

The £34.4m Villarreal forward scored 16 goals and delivered four assists in all competitions last season, with a goal contribution every 119 minutes, but it’s not just his goal contributions that would make him a valuable asset at Anfield.

Danjuma created two big chances, taking 2.7 shots, with 1.3 shots on target per game, whilst winning the majority of his ground and aerial duels (51%) while being successful in completing the majority of his dribble attempts too (54%) over 23 league games last season.

With that being said, following the signing of Darwin Nunez it might not seem viable to sign Danjuma this summer as he predominantly plays in the striker role for his current club, but if Liverpool want to add even more goal contributions next season the Dutchman could be the perfect addition.
