Liverpool have spent much of their transfer window offloading players with nine faces leaving the club this summer, and now a reliable source has revealed there could be a potential 10th to make a late exit from Anfield.

What's the latest?

According to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Naby Keita is unhappy at Liverpool with contract extension talks now ending and an exit from the club now "possible".

Plettenberg tweeted:

"Excl. News Naby Keita: He is unhappy with his current situation in Liverpool. There were talks about a contract extension but they have stopped now. His departure is possible regardless of Thiago and Oxlade-Chamberlain. But early stage. Talks will take place."

Klopp should be worried

There is no doubt that Jurgen Klopp will be worried if Keita is pushing for an exit over the remaining two weeks of the transfer window as he is currently one of the only midfielders with the experience needed who is fit to play the upcoming fixtures.

Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are currently on the long injury list at Anfield, with James Milner, Harvey Elliott, Jordan Henderson, Keita and Fabinho currently the only midfielders that the Liverpool manager can deploy in his midfield three.

However, with Elliott inexperienced and Milner now more of a full-back, it limits Klopp's truly viable options even more.

As a result, the Guinea international's situation at the club couldn't have come at a worse time for the German coach who is yet to guide his FA Cup-winning side to a victory in the Premier League, with one of the most highly anticipated fixtures in the calendar coming up at Old Trafford against Manchester United on Monday night.

If Keita did leave the club over the next fortnight it would surely prompt the powers at Anfield to ramp up their interest and approaches for midfielder options in the transfer market, but with target Matheus Nunes joining Wolverhampton Wanderers this week it is unclear who Liverpool could sign at such short notice.

The Reds have been linked with a move for long-term target Jude Bellingham, but it has been reiterated on several occasions that the Borussia Dortmund wonderkid would not be available to sign in the current transfer window following Erling Haaland's exit from the Bundesliga club already this summer.

Liverpool also made a move for Aurelien Tchouameni earlier this year but despite agreeing personal terms with the player, the young midfielder opted for a move to Real Madrid instead.

With that being said, there is a lot for Klopp, FSG and Julian Ward to consider over the coming days and weeks until the transfer window slams shut on the 1st of September. However, they must act fast as losing Keita could be an absolute disaster with the current injury crisis at the club continuing to unfold.

For that reason alone, the manager should be worried about the situation unfolding in the centre of the pitch.
