Liverpool have already made three signings this summer with Jurgen Klopp focusing on bolstering his attacking threat, and now there has been a new update on a potential transfer target that could strengthen the forward line at Anfield even further.

What's the latest?

According to 90min, Liverpool are plotting a bid for Ajax Amsterdam winger Antony this summer.

As per the report, the Reds have joined the race to sign the Brazilian star and will compete with Manchester United for his signature, the Dutch champions have set an asking price of £60m.

Football Insider reported earlier this week that sources had told them that Liverpool were even as far as in talks with Ajax this sign Antony.

Imagine him & Nunez

There is no doubt that Klopp already has a fiercely talented forward line at Anfield, but with Sadio Mane making a surprise exit in a move to Bayern Munich last month, there is certainly an opportunity to strengthen it even more ahead of next season.

Liverpool are currently in a position to add more youth to their team with Roberto Firmino's contract coming to an end, and despite Mohamed Salah extending his contract to 2025, the singing of 22-year-old Antony could benefit the Reds for years to come beyond Salah's contract if they can seal a deal.

Although predominantly deployed as a right winger, the Ajax star has also played on the left and in various attacking midfield roles over his career and versatility in positioning is something the Liverpool manager highly values when deploying his trophy-chasing team across all competitions.

Over 23 appearances in the Eredivisie last season, Antony scored eight goals, delivered four assists and created seven big chances. He also made 1.7 key passes, one tackle and took 3.4 shots per game, as well as winning the majority of his duels (51%) and being successful in the majority of his dribbles (56%) too.

The Brazilian forward has been lavished with praise over his career so far, with former England keeper Paul Robinson hailing Antony in an interview with Football Insider:

“Antony is a top player.

“He is strong, good on the ball and can cut in and shoot from distance. He can play down the middle as well but he is most effective off the left-hand side. A two-footed player who gets goals and assists."

Klopp could even form a formidable strike partnership between Antony and his new club record-breaking signing Darwin Nunez, which could certainly give Liverpool their best chance at retaining their infamous attacking threat with two youngsters that can be the future at Anfield.

With that being said, if FSG want to take the opportunity to sign the Brazilian this summer it would be a great chance for Liverpool to add even more talent and quality to their attacking threat in their pursuit for more trophies.
