Liverpool have made three signings so far this summer with Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay joining the Anfield outfit, but there is still work to be done to improve the squad going forward.

After making the club record-breaking signing of striker Nunez, it was reported that Liverpool would be making it a top priority to add quality players to their midfield, with Jude Bellingham being one of the most highly speculated players to sign for the Reds.

Liverpool's midfield have a number of players who despite still offering performances at the highest level are not going to be part of the long-term future with the Merseyside giants.

James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara are all now well into their 30s and it seems unlikely they will receive an extension on their current contracts, which means the recruitment team will need to get to work to ensure they are bringing in players that can seamlessly fit into the team and provide the quality needed to continue to compete.

One player who has been repeatedly linked with a move to the club this summer is Valencia star Carlos Soler, and he could be just what Jurgen Klopp needs to bolster his midfield options in the squad.

The £45m-rated magician who was hailed "the next David Silva" by former Valencia manager Gary Neville, has been a reliable performer for the La Liga club and last season yet again has proven he has the high-quality output that would be a great asset to the Liverpool boss.

Soler scored 11 goals, delivered five assists and created five big chances, all while making 1.7 key passes and taking 1.3 shots on average per game.

He also won the majority of both his ground and aerial duels over 32 league appearances, proving that he offers talent in both defensive and attacking play.

Klopp rarely plays with an advanced midfielder who is responsible for converting goal-scoring opportunities, but Soler offers the versatility in his positioning to give the Liverpool manager the flexibility to utilise him in a number of different roles in midfield which is something that could be a valuable asset to the squad.

With that being said, it would be a huge coup for FSG if they could sign Soler this summer as they continue to compete for major trophies and will give them a head start in getting their midfield set up for the future.
