Pearce initially tweeted:

"Second Bayern bid for Mane instantly dismissed. Only guaranteed an extra £2.5m with 'laughable' add-ons."

Following up with an article for The Athletic, the reliable journalist further explained that Liverpool had swiftly rejected the second offer worth an initial £23.5m, as they want a guaranteed fee in excess of £40m.

FSG will be furious

There is no doubt that FSG will be furious and feel their time is being wasted by Bayern Munich over the Mane deal, as they have made it clear on more than one occasion what they are looking for in terms of a fee that would represent what they are looking for, for the player.

The Senegalese winger has been a linchpin in Liverpool's success over the last six years winning multiple trophies and playing a huge part in the club's first-ever Premier League title win in 2020, scoring 18 goals in the league, just one shy of his teammate Mo Salah.

This season Mane has proved yet again how crucial he is to the team scoring 23 goals and contributing five assists in all competitions, with five incredible Champions League strikes that guided Liverpool to their third final in the prestigious competition in five years.

In fact, speaking on talkSPORT (via The Mirror) former Kopite Dean Saunders made a bold claim on Mane's position in world football:

"I think he's irreplaceable. I would argue the fact that he's probably in the top three players in the world right now. Salah, Mane, De Bruyne.

"Liverpool are doing really well at the moment and losing somebody like him could knock them sideways."

With that being said, it is no wonder the Reds feel short-changed by Bayern's bids for one of their star players who would be considered financially irreplaceable due to his goal contributions over the years as there is no guarantee that anyone they buy could replace his output.

Mane has 12 months left on his contract and there is no reason why Liverpool may refuse to sell the player for less than they believe he is worth so there is still a chance that the player could remain at Anfield next season, leaving on a free transfer next summer.
