Steve Cook, Harry Wilson's former Bournemouth teammate, believes that the Wales international should not be playing in the Championship. After speculation about his Anfield future, Liverpool opted to once against send the 23-year-old out on loan. Wilson will play out the remainder of the season with Cardiff City, which will limit Jurgen Klopp's options on the bench.

"I was really good friends with Harry when he was here and still speak to him now," said Cook in an interview with the Daily Echo. "I was disappointed for him because I felt like he deserved to stay in the Premier League. He’s a top quality player so Cardiff have been very shrewd in bringing him in."

Could Liverpool suffer without Wilson?

Liverpool are currently getting bombarded with injury blows which could end up harming their chances of running for this season's title. Alisson, Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are currently out of action, Naby Keita is only just on his way back to fitness and with Virgil van Dijk also injured, things are are looking pretty bleak for the Reds.

As it stands, Klopp has four back-up options to replace his front three. However, Sadio Mane's absence from the Aston Villa match proved extremely costly, with Liverpool shipping a humiliating seven goals.

Despite signing Diogo Jota, it looks as though the Reds are in for a long season if positive virus tests or injuries become a frequent problem. Wilson's loan stats during his time with Derby proved impressive, especially with his knack for scoring long-range goals with ease coming to light and the Reds may rue letting him leave.

The Welshman scored 18 goals and six assists in 49 appearances for the Rams, with six of those coming from outside the box (via Transfermarkt).

This could be something Klopp couls have benefitted from in the absence of playmakers like Keita and Thiago. A stagnant midfield could quickly see Liverpool slip down the table and lose their crown to opponents who have cracked Mohamed Salah and Mane's game plan.
