Liverpool are now on their pre-season tour in Thailand after making three signings already this summer, but they are still being linked with a number of players, especially midfielders.

It was reported by the Liverpool Echo that after making the club record-breaking signing of Darwin Nunez they would be focusing on strengthening their midfield, and it is no surprise when you consider their current players in the centre of the pitch.

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner are due to be out of contract this time next year, whilst Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara although secured in longer contracts are both dwindling in their game-time and now well into their 30s.

As a result, it could be the perfect opportunity over the remainder of the transfer window to identify a midfielder who can come in to be a more consistent and reliable presence in midfield.

One player who has been repeatedly linked to the club is Lille OSC midfielder Renato Sanches, who could be available for just £8m this summer, meaning Liverpool would not need to break the bank ahead of their reported plan to attempt to sign Jude Bellingham next summer who is believed to have a price tag of a hefty £103m.

Sanches has been a consistent performer in the Ligue 1 side over last season, scoring two goals, delivering five assists and creating seven big chances over 25 league appearances.

The 24-year-old talent who was hailed "terrific" by Cristian Nyari also made 1.4 key passes and won four duels on average per game, as well as successfully completing the majority of his dribble attempts, proving that he is an absolute nightmare for his opponents.

Klopp could even land his very own Luca Modric by signing Sanches this summer, as the Real Madrid star has been named as the third most comparable player to the Portuguese midfielder according to FBref.

Although Modric delivered more assists (8) and had a better shot-on-target accuracy (37%), Sanches made more shot-creating actions (80), won more tackles (16) and had a better pressure success rate (34.2%).

With that being said, FSG must act now if they want to sign the player who is being heavily pursued by AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain as it could be a great piece of business and an absolute steal for Liverpool to add some more quality depth to their midfield ahead of next season.
