Liverpool have been locked in a stalemate with Mohamed Salah over a contract extension that would see him prolong his stay at Anfield beyond next summer, and now a new update has emerged on the club's stance on securing a deal for the player.

According to journalist and transfer insider Dean Jones, Liverpool will now make Salah one more offer to sign a contract extension with the club.

When asked by GIVEMESPORT whether Salah would likely leave on a free transfer next summer, Jones responded:
“I think so. Everyone seems pretty clear of the situation, as it stands right now.
“Liverpool set their stall out not to cave into his demands. I believe there will be one more offer on the table for him this summer – take it or leave it.
“But I don’t think it will be at the level that Mohamed Salah’s representatives put forward.”
Klopp will be worried
There is no doubt that losing Sadio Mane and Salah in the space of a year is a thought that will leave Jurgen Klopp incredibly worried as the Egyptian winger, in particular, has been the source of the most goal contributions at the club during his five years at Anfield.
Salah has scored 156 goals and contributed 63 assists, with a goal contribution every 94 minutes, proving that he would leave a massive hole in Liverpool's attacking threat should the club lose him next summer.
Not only would the team suffer a huge loss to their front three, but FSG would also lose the opportunity to make any profit on the £81m-rated winger who would leave for free when his contract ends next June.
Replacing Salah's incredible and reliable output will be no easy task and would cost the club a large financial investment to acquire the services of a proven goal machine who can come in and make an instant impact in Salah's role, so not making any money for the 30-year-old's departure will surely be a further blow to the club.
Liverpool have recently broken their transfer record by signing Darwin Nunez, but he is currently unproven in the Premier League and will have immense pressure to impress in the striker role and wouldn't be a direct replacement for the Egypt international as he will likely only be deployed directly in the centre-forward position.
With that being said, there is a lot left to be considered for Klopp and the powers at Anfield over the next few months as they will need to prepare for the worst-case scenario which suggests that Salah will follow Mane out of the doors at the Merseyside club a year later.
