Journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Liverpool are still "following" Moises Caicedo ahead of a possible transfer in the summer.

What’s the word?

It's no secret that the Reds could do with a new midfielder coming in as soon as possible but they were unable to add anyone in the winter. Of course, the plan looks to be to sign Jude Bellingham at the end of the season.

However, it seems as though the Premier League club are keeping their options open and could be prepared to sign Brighton star Caicedo as an alternative.

Indeed, while speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano explained that Arsenal and Chelsea want the player but Liverpool are still in the race too.
The journalist said (1:27): “Caicedo remains on the list of Arsenal but also Chelsea and Liverpool track him."
He added (1.36): "Liverpool are still following the player but the big target is Jude Bellingham so we will see what happens. But Caicedo will probably get his top club move in the summer this is the expectation of those around the player."

Transfer competition

Arsenal seemed to be the team most keen on landing Caicedo as they tabled a £70m bid this winter that was ultimately rejected by Brighton. Chelsea may not be quite so desperate to land the midfielder now they've signed Enzo Fernandez – who was also linked by Italian media to Liverpool – but you never know what Todd Boehly will be planning next in the transfer market.
Evidently, it looks as though could be plenty of competition for the Ecuadorian player's signature next summer but the Reds won't find signing Jude Bellingham easy either. Indeed, there is plenty of talk that Real Madrid will be in for the Englishman too and with Jurgen Klopp's men looking as though they won't be playing in the Champions League next season it may be hard to convince such a top talent to sign. If that happens, perhaps Caicedo will be an easier deal to complete.
