Liverpool have been linked with a move for Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler, despite the summer transfer window only closing a matter of days ago.

What's the story?

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the Reds are interested in securing the highly-rated 24-year-old's services over the coming months.

The report states that Soler could be available for a relatively low price due to his current contract expiring in 2023, something that has reportedly attracted Jurgen Klopp to the versatile Spanish international.

Liverpool could finally replace Philippe Coutinho

Despite his tender years, Soler has become the leader of Valencia in recent times following the departure of several experienced players due to the club's financial troubles.

The £36m-rated magician has made 188 appearances for his boyhood club to date, with his impressive performances catching the eye of several impressed onlookers.

One scout report lauded Soler’s skilful natural ability along with other attributes such as his ‘smart positioning, good dribbling and ability to combine in a tight space.’

And after bagging 26 goals and providing a further 26 assists throughout his Valencia career, it's easy to understand why Klopp has identified him as a prime target for future windows.

His tacical versatility is one of Soler's biggest strengths and could see him become the man to replace the creative void left by Philippe Coutinho's exit, should he make the move to Anfield.

Comfortable in multiple roles within the engine room, including as a holding or attacking midfielder as well as a box-to-box dynamo, Soler has also been fielded on either flank and brings an unrivalled work rate to each position.

As a technically gifted maestro with an eye for a pass, great long-range shooting and specialising in set-piece's, the similarities between the Valencia ace and Coutinho are apparent.

Soler's blistering start to the new campaign has seen him bag three goals in his first three La Liga appearances as well as notching up two goals in his first two outings for the Spanish national team.

His outstanding form could earn him a move to Anfield either this season or next and Klopp's charges would surely be strengthened by his arrival.

This is a move that The Reds should definitely be pursuing.
