Manchester City are being linked with a move for AC Milan left-back Theo Hernandez and he could be a superb addition to Pep Guardiola's squad at the Etihad.

What's the word?

According to Italian news outlet Calcio Mercato, the 23-year-old is attracting interest from Manchester City and PSG as he continues to impress in Serie A with AC Milan.

You could certainly argue that City are in need of a left-back, as their main options there include Oleksandr Zinchenko, Joao Cancelo and Nathan Ake, none of whom are naturals in that position.

Benjamin Mendy's time at Manchester City also looks to be over, so it would not be a surprise to see the club target Hernandez in upcoming transfer windows, and he looks to be one of the best options available after City missed out on signing Nuno Mendes from Sporting Lisbon on deadline day.

The Citizens were regularly linked with the teenage defender throughout the summer window but when he came available on deadline day they failed to act, and he joined PSG on a loan deal, with the Ligue 1 side holding an option to buy him.

Would Hernandez be a good signing for City?

Hernandez has established himself as one of the top young left-backs in Europe during his time at the San Siro, contributing an impressive 15 goals and 14 assists in 83 appearances for the Italian giants.

The £45m-rated defender was in outstanding form last season, contributing seven goals and five assists in Serie A for AC Milan, averaging a superb 7.28 rating from WhoScored for his performances.

Stefano Pioli was full of praise for the Frenchman last season, saying:

“He can play both phases very well, with his physical abilities it is enough to stay in the game. He can very well become one of the best.

“He has only been playing continuously for a year and a half, I always tell him that he must not be satisfied with being talented.

“He has an incredible physical strength and quality, he must prove that he wants to become the best every day."

Therefore, he clearly has a lot of attacking talent and his pace and ability in the final third could prove to be extremely effective for City, so Txiki Begiristain should definitely try and bring him to the Etihad.
