Manchester City are reportedly interested in Preston North End wonderkid Felipe Rodriguez-Gentile and the 16-year-old gem could prove to be another Erling Haaland under Pep Guardiola.

According to the Daily Mirror, City, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are all keen on the teenage striker, who made headlines after scoring five times in a FA Youth Cup game against Rotherham United earlier this month.

The young striker has been in red-hot form for the Lilywhites recently, hitting an extraordinary 18 goals in his last 10 games, including four separate hattricks, which suggests that he is doing his best to emulate Haaland's superb form since his switch to the Etihad in the summer.

The Norway international made it 24 goals under Pep Guardiola when he opened the scoring in the 3-2 win against Liverpool on Thursday evening and he shows no signs of slowing down, given the world-class players playing behind him.

While Rodriguez-Gentile would be a long way from starting for City's first team anytime soon, given that he is yet to make a senior appearance for Preston, he certainly looks to have a huge amount of potential and could easily be integrated into Guardiola's squad in the future.

We have already seen the Spanish manager hand minutes to young talents such as Rico Lewis this season, with the 17-year-old impressive once again against Liverpool on Thursday, so there would definitely be opportunities for Rodriguez-Gentile if he works hard and impresses in City's academy.

Preston North End manager Ryan Lowe has already spoken about the Brazilian forward's chances of appearing in the Championship but was keen to stress that he is only 16 so he shouldn't be hyped up too much.

He said:

"He is a good little player, isn't he? He's got some good attributes, but again, he is 16 and we've got to be careful.

"People probably want to get him in the squad; he will come up and train with us in some capacity very soon - when he's off school! It's mad, isn't it?

"But he is a fantastic talent and one we have to keep tabs on, which we are, of course."

Given the 16-year-old's sensational recent form in Preston's academy, it seems like a no-brainer for City to try and bring him to the Etihad and with the right development and training, perhaps he could have a similar impact to Haaland under Guardiola in the future.
