Recent reports have claimed that Erling Haaland would prefer a move to one of Manchester City, Chelsea or Real Madrid in the future, which is obviously a huge boost for Pep Guardiola's chances of bringing him to the Etihad.

What's the word?

According to Le10 Sport, Haaland would prefer a move to one of those three sides rather than Manchester United, despite his admiration for Jadon Sancho, who recently move to Old Trafford.

Although a move for the Norway international is unlikely to be on the cards this summer due to the huge fee that Borussia Dortmund will surely demand, it is widely reported that he has a £64m release clause in his contract which will become active next year.

Considering his remarkable performances for Dortmund since signing, £64m would surely prove to be a bargain for one of the best youngsters in world football, and it seems as if City could be the ones to take advantage.

Would Haaland be a good signing?

Haaland produced a sign of things to come when he came off the bench on his Borussia Dortmund debut to score a hattrick, and his superb run of form in front of goal has only continued since then.

In 59 appearances for the Signal Iduna Park outfit, Haaland has contributed a hugely impressive 57 goals and 15 assists, which has helped to increase his Transfermarkt value to £117m - further evidence that £64m would be a small price to pay for the clinical forward next summer.

Guardiola is certainly a big fan of the 20-year-old and whilst he arguably needs a replacement for the legendary Sergio Aguero at Manchester City this summer, the prospect of having Haaland at the Etihad for the 2022/23 season is surely too good for the Spaniard to turn down.

He was full of praise for the young forward earlier this year, saying:

“The only thing I can say is that he is an exceptional striker. With his age, he is an exceptional striker. He’s a fantastic player – that’s all.”

Therefore, if the reports are true and Haaland would be open to joining Manchester City in the future, then they should do everything in their power to bring him to the Etihad.

And, in other news... Guardiola should seal Man City swoop for "one of the best"
