Riyad Mahrez has recently reaffirmed his commitment to Manchester City, which will surely please both Pep Guardiola and fans of the Premier League champions as he continues to impress for the Citizens.

The Algerian has enjoyed a superb campaign and was asked about his future at City in a recent interview with RMC Sport, (via City Xtra), to which he replied: "I would like to end my career here in England and why not here at City?"

Mahrez has been touted as a potential option for Real Madrid in the summer transfer window but he is clearly happy to stay with the Citizens, which is a huge boost for Guardiola.

So far this season, the 30-year-old has contributed nine goals and four assists in the Premier League, averaging an impressive 7.32 rating for his performances from WhoScored.

This is enough to rank him as the third-best performer in the Spaniard's squad so far this season, so it is clear just how important he is at the Etihad Stadium.

Since joining from Leicester City in 2018, the skilful winger has made 139 appearances for the Citizens, contributing 39 goals and 35 assists in all competitions, whilst he has added two Premier League titles and three Carabao Cup wins to his résumé and will be hoping to win his first Champions League medal when Guardiola's side take on Chelsea later this month in Porto.

Mahrez emphasised his immense quality with his performances in the semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain, scoring the winning goal in the 2-1 win in France before netting a brace in the return leg to send City to the final.

Earlier in the season, Guardiola was full of praise for the former Foxes man, saying: “Riyad is an exceptional player... For the quality, the passes and especially his mentality and he is aggressive to score goals."

Therefore, he will be delighted to hear that Mahrez is keen to finish his career at the Etihad, where he has established himself as a key player in recent seasons, and City fans will surely be desperate to keep him for as long as he continues to perform at such a high level.
