Manchester City predicted starting XI to face Leeds United

Manchester City are on the road this evening with an away clash against Leeds United at Elland Road.

Following on from their thrilling 4-3 win over Real Madrid in the Champions League in midweek, the Manchester club turn their attention back to the Premier League.

City’s previous league outing saw them put five goals past Watford at the Etihad Stadium last weekend in a 5-1 victory, with Gabriel Jesus scoring four.

Heading into today’s showdown, the away side will be without defenders Kyle Walker and John Stones through injury, as Pep Guardiola revealed in his latest press conference.

With that in mind, here’s how we feel City could line up to take on Jesse Marsch’s side.

Man City predicted XI: Ederson – Cancelo, Dias, Laporte, Zinchenko – De Bruyne, Rodri, Bernardo – Grealish, Jesus, Sterling

Despite conceding three goals in midweek, Ederson should keep his place in the team to try and keep a clean sheet this time out.

In the back four, we predict that Joao Cancelo will start at right-back in the absence of Walker, with Ruben Dias and Aymeric Laporte in the two centre-back positions.

Having been praised for his “ridiculous” assist against Everton earlier in the season, the Portugal full-back could be an ideal replacement for the injured Walker on this occasion.

Will City win all of their remaining league games?

Yes

Yes

No

No

At left-back, after starting against Real Madrid, we think that Oleksandr Zinchenko will be in the team again to try and keep Leeds winger Raphinha as quiet as possible.

In midfield, we can see Guardiola sticking with the same midfield trio which started on Tuesday, with Rodri playing in between midweek goalscorers Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva.

Moving up the pitch to the three attacking positions, after his plethora of goals against Watford and finding the net once again in midweek, we can see Jesus starting through the middle to try and keep his goalscoring form going.

Then, on either side of the in-form Brazilian, we think that Guardiola will take both Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden out and replace them with England duo Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling to try and freshen up the attack from their midweek outing.

Having been accused of being “frustrating” by Micah Richards for not delivering the most of what he has to offer on the pitch, Mahrez – who is currently picking up a wage of £160k-per-week – could well find himself on the bench on this occasion.
