Manchester City receive boost in Neymar chase

Manchester City are among a few European Superclubs who have been given the green light to make a bid for PSG mega star, Neymar.

What’s the word?

As per a report from The Mirror who have relayed a piece from RMC Sport, Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly told the Brazilian that they no longer require his services in what is an extraordinary U-turn due to the club begging him to stay just a few years ago.

The report goes on to state that Neymar was angered by Al-Khelaifi’s comments made earlier in the summer on the topic of shortcomings at PSG saying: “A possible departure of Neymar this summer? What I can tell you is that we expect all players to do a lot more than last season. A lot more!

“They all have to to be 100 per cent. Obviously, we weren’t good enough to go far. For next season, the objective is clear: to work every day at 200 per cent. To give everything we have for this jersey, give the maximum and we will see the result.”

“You have to become humble again. You have to change to avoid injuries, suspensions and fouls that change a game.”

As per reports in Spain earlier this year, Manchester City are a potential destination for the Brazilian and as a result of this new report, may have just been handed the green light to make a bid.

Should Man City sign Neymar Jr?

Supporters will love it

Seeing Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus depart in the space of a year is unlikely to be received too well but combining the arrival of Neymar with Erling Haaland would surely see supporters absolutely delighted.

After all, how do you make up for the departures of Manchester City’s second and third highest goal scorers in the club’s history? By signing a megastar who still has a point to prove.

City can do that by putting in a bid for the £67.5m-rated “phenomenon”, in the words of David Luiz, who is now no longer wanted by PSG in what looks to be a serious shake-up for the Parisien side.

Who was Manchester City's first Premier League defeat against?

It is worth pointing out that whilst Neymar has still delivered the goods in Paris, achieving a respectable 100 goals and 60 assists in 144 appearances, he still has a lot more to give and he has most certainly failed to hit the heights we saw at Barcelona.

Despite this, the news that PSG are open to selling him this summer still comes as a shock for what is one of the world’s best attackers.

Pep and Manchester City should keep a close eye on this situation as signing him would be one of the biggest statements any team in Europe could make this summer.
