Manchester City have seen numerous players make moves out of the club in recent years such as Ferran Torres, Sergio Aguero and David Silva among others.

One other player that waved goodbye to the Etihad Stadium not too long ago was Leroy Sane.

Signed from Schalke back in the 2016 summer transfer window in a deal worth a reported fee of £37m, the winger went on to make 135 appearances for Pep Guardiola's side across all competitions.

In those appearances, the German racked up 39 goals, 46 assists, two Premier League titles, two Carabao Cups and one FA Cup along the way.

Back in the summer of 2020, the 26-year-old returned to Germany after Bayern Munich splashed out an initial fee of £44.7m to sign the attacker.

Now that almost two years have passed since Sane brought an end to his successful period in England, the Manchester club may have the chance to secure what could be their next version of the Germany international.

Last month, it was claimed by journalist Santi Aouna on Twitter that City had started talks with Jorge Mendes, the agent of AC Milan winger Rafael Leao, some weeks ago.

The 22-year-old joined the Italian club back in the 2019 summer transfer window from Lille for £32m.

Since then, the Portuguese winger has scored 27 goals and supplied 21 assists in 115 appearances for the Serie A champions.

Labelled as a player that is set to have a "glorious" career in football by his former coach Tiago Fernandes, Leao certainly has the attacking ability to not only score but provide goals for his teammates from the left-wing in a similar fashion to Sane.

To compare the duo from their recent individual league seasons, the Milan star racked up more goals, assists, shots, dribbles and crosses than the former City attacker.

In terms of a potential move to the Etihad Stadium this summer, Milan's sporting director revealed that Leao currently has a release clause of €150m (£128m).

While this is undeniably a huge amount of money, it could be an investment worth making for the Manchester club given the clear attacking talent the 22-year-old has and the potential he has to become a long-term star for the Citizens.
