Manchester United finally announced the signing of former Borussia Dortmund ace Jadon Sancho earlier this summer following a lengthy pursuit.

However, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer attempts to close the gap to Premier League champions Manchester City, several star names continue to be linked with a move to Old Trafford and it looks like Ed Woodward will be getting the chequebook out a few more times in the coming weeks.

Key positions such as centre-back and holding midfield are thought to be high up on the Norwegian's wish list, as the likes of Raphael Varane and Eduardo Camavinga have reportedly caught the eye of the United hierarchy as they plan for a title tilt.

A new contract for talismanic figure Paul Pogba has also been muted.

With all of that in mind, what will Solskjaer’s starting XI look next season once the summer transfer window has concluded?

Here’s our prediction…

One of Solskjaer's biggest decisions will be over who begins the campaign as his first-choice goalkeeper. Dean Henderson was given several opportunities to impress at the backend of last season, but after making a string of errors, David de Gea was reinstated, and we think he will get the nod again for the start of 2021/22.

Ahead of the 30-year-old shot-stopper is likely to be a few familiar faces, although one key addition is likely to arrive. Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were all impressive throughout 2020/21, yet doubts remain over the ability of Victor Lindelof.

The Sweden international often struggles with the pace and physicality of the Premier League and Real Madrid's Varane has been linked with a move to the 20-time English champions as a result.

With just under a year remaining on his contract at the Bernabeu, an imminent exit looks all but guaranteed for the France international, and he could become United's second big-money signing of the summer if they match his £42.5 million asking price.

In midfield, we fancy Pogba to put pen to paper and extend his contract with the Red Devils, becoming a key component of the club's engine room for many years to come.

The World Cup-winning maestro could be joined by compatriot Camavinga in the centre of the park after the Rennes teenager was linked with a £25.7m move to United in recent weeks. Solskjaer is set to rival Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain for his signature in an attempt to bolster his first-team options.

Bruno Fernandes is all but guaranteed to take up his usual spot in the starting XI, while Sancho's £73m transfer should see him lineup alongside Marcus Rashford and Edinson Cavani in a fearsome front three.

And, in other news...Man Utd linked to £54m-rated “phenomenon”, fans will surely be buzzing
