It’s been a relatively quiet window for Manchester United but it seems all eyes will be on the next transfer window as The Red Devils plot a highly-anticipated summer overhaul…
According to SPORT via The Daily Express, United remain interested in signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund to bolster Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s firepower, although they will face several obstacles.
The Norwegian’s chase for the 20-year-old was well-documented last summer, only for it to fall short at the final hurdle as Ed Woodward was unwilling to release the necessary funds.
But it seems like Solskjaer is still ready to take Sancho to Old Trafford in the summer, per the Spanish publication, and if Woodward can get a deal done, it could be an absolute masterclass by the chief executive as the 18-cap England international provides a big upgrade on one of United’s current options.
A move for his Sancho would make an awful lot of sense, especially considering Daniel James has continued to struggle in front of goal.
The 23-year-old Welsh international has only contributed to five goals across all competitions so far this season, via WhoScored.
Sancho, on the other hand, has made 20 goal contributions in all competitions this season, including three goals and nine assists in 18 top-flight appearances in the Bundesliga and would clearly offer much more of an attacking threat.
The former Manchester City youth prospect, who turns 21 in March, moved to Germany for a fee in the region of £10m in 2017 after he stopped training with the club to force a move. He earns around £190,000-per-week at the Signal Iduna Park, making him one of the club’s best paid players.
Previously deemed “amazing” by his teammate Erling Braut Haaland, it seems Sancho is destined for bigger and better things, and to all intents and purposes would be a perfect fit for Solskjaer’s side, so Woodward should pull out all the stops to secure his signature in the summer.
AND in other news, Manchester United should sign Sergio Ramos after transfer update…
