Manchester United have been linked with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes recently, and it seems as if Erik ten Hag's side have been given the green light to sign the 28-year-old, with reports suggesting that he will leave the French champions this summer.

What's the word?

The Express reported that the Argentina international is set to leave the Parc des Princes this summer following the departure of Mauricio Pochettino, and the Red Devils are one of the clubs said to be interested in signing him.

The report suggested that talks are already 'ongoing' between Paredes and United about a potential move, with PSG expected to demand around £30m for the former Zenit St Petersburg man's services.

Imagine him and De Jong

Although the focus of United's transfer window so far has very much been Frenkie de Jong, Paredes could be an excellent partner for the Barcelona star in Ten Hag's midfield next season, should both players arrive at Old Trafford.

The Netherlands international would bring immense ability on the ball and creativity, while Paredes could be the man to break up attacks with his aggressive style of play.

WhoScored suggests that the 28-year-old's main strengths include passing, blocking the ball and concentration, so he could definitely work well in tandem with the more attacking-focused De Jong at United.

We have already seen the Argentine perform a similar role alongside Marco Verratti at PSG, and United could really benefit from his prospective signing. Far too many times last term, the Red Devils didn't look ready to fight for results.

Former PSG man Fabrice Pancrate was full of praise for Paredes last season, saying: The Paredes-Verratti doublet is confirmed from match to match. They are complementary. How many times has Paredes been criticized since his arrival? I have always said that I found this player to be super strong.

“He’s smart, technical, aggressive in a good way, and he’s not just a nasty gamer. It is also beautiful to watch. His tempo is perfect.”

Therefore, with reports suggesting that Paredes will leave PSG this summer, United should act quickly to ensure that he arrives at Old Trafford, as a potential partnership with De Jong is surely too good for Ten Hag to turn down.
