Manchester United will be looking to end a three-game winless run when they welcome fierce rivals Liverpool to Old Trafford this afternoon.

The Red Devils suffered a hugely disappointing 4-2 defeat at the hands of Leicester City in their last Premier League outing, dropping Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's charges down to sixth in the top-flight table.

However, United will be full of confidence going into today's tricky encounter after they pulled off a dramatic comeback victory over Atalanta in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Their magnificent midweek win may have come at a heavy price, though. Both Marcus Rashford and Fred left the field of play with separate injury issues, while Solskjaer revealed that midfield talisman Bruno Fernandes is also a doubt.

With that in mind, here's how Football FanCast expects the Norwegian tactician to line up against Liverpool, with just one change from the side which started last time out...

The in-form David de Gea will start between the sticks once again for United, keeping Dean Henderson on the bench for another week.

Ahead of the Spain international is set to be an unchanged back four. Raphael Varane’s injury means Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will complete the defensive unit, although they'll be hoping to put in a more convincing display than the one they managed in Europe.

If Fred can recover from his fitness concern in time, then there is unlikely to be any surprise selections in the midfield engine room either.

The concerning performances of the 20-time English champions should see Solskjaer going with a safety-first approach, meaning that Fred and Scott McTominay will form the double pivot.

In front of the pragmatic pair will be an exciting front four charged with providing the firepower to see off a dangerous Liverpool side. Paul Pogba should come into the side in place of the £76.5m-rated injury doubt Rashford, partnering Fernandes (who may yet be fit enough to feature), Mason Greenwood and Cristiano Ronaldo in attack.
