Manchester United have made Lille striker Victor Osimhen their "priority" for the summer transfer window, according to Le 10 Sport.

It is suggested that the 21-year-old has captured the attention of various big-hitters across Europe, with the Red Devils among the most keen, alongside Real Madrid.

It was only during the summer of 2019 that he joined the French outfit from Belgian Jupiler Pro League side Charleroi.

However, he was wanted by Los Blancos as well as Barcelona in January, and while the attention was held off in the winter months, it is expected that Lille may give in during the summer.

Having already lost Nicolas Pepe to Arsenal, it is said that United are looking to ensure Osimhen also heads to the Premier League.

FFC writers have given their verdicts about whether United are right to be making a move for the Nigeria international a priority.

"Manchester United only have to look at Anthony Martial to see how signing a young striker who is shining in France can pay huge dividends. Osimhen has enjoyed a very impressive campaign with Lille this season, netting 18 times in just 38 games, including scoring one apiece in Champions League clashes against Chelsea and Valencia respectively.

"Whilst Odion Ighalo has added a goal-scoring touch to the Red Devils since making the move to Old Trafford in the January transfer window, whether he has a long-term career at the club remains up for debate. Tying up a deal for Osimhen would ensure they have someone who has far more upside than Ighalo. At 21, the Nigerian can represent the future of United's strike-force."

"Manchester United shook up their transfer strategy last summer by targeting young British players who have the ability to progress and take the Red Devils towards a brighter future - Harry Maguire and Dan James were chief amongst them. Although Victor Osimhen fits into the young category, making him their utmost priority in the summer would be a little puzzling for a club of Manchester United's stature. We know that they're a club that like to splash the cash - Paul Pogba speaks volumes - but in this instance they should do so on Jadon Sancho, not the Lille winger.

"Sancho is the crown jewel in England's rising crop of talent and despite being touted at £100m, this is the exception. He is a generational talent, one that's already amassed close to 30 goal involvements in 2019/20. In comparison, Osimhen has 13 goals and four assists but as seen with Nicolas Pepe, life isn't always plain sailing after moving from France to England. Sancho should be the priority this summer - anything else would be a Woodward blunder."

"One has to wonder if Osimhen is good enough.

"In total he has played 38 games for Lille, scoring 18 goals, but there is something to be said about the lack of quality in Ligue 1.

"Gervinho, after all, was a star at Lille, too, scoring 36 goals in 93 games for the club before his move to Arsenal.

"He went on to flop, scoring a mere 11 goals in 63 games.

"United probably don't want to sign the new Gervinho but Osimhen, really, appears to be just that. In fact, his numbers aren't quite as good as those offered up by the ex-Gunner.

"United ought to swerve this move."

"This would be a pretty exciting move for Solskjaer, as he continues what is becoming a dangerously dynamic attack at Old Trafford. However, making the Nigeria international the club's priority seems a little bit foolish, as there are surely less risky signings out there than Osimhen.

"The upcoming window is incredibly important for the club, as they will be looking to build on the progress that the Norwegian manager has already made since taking over as Man United manager. With this in mind, Sancho is definitely somebody they should be prioritising over him, considering the impact he has had for Dortmund this campaign.

"However, that doesn't mean that United shouldn't try to bring Osimhen in as well if there are the funds to do so, because given time to adapt, he could turn out to be an inspired signing."

Meanwhile, one Man United player sent a message to Sancho.
