Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a mega move for one of the best strikers on the planet, and have now been handed a glowing recommendation…
That’s according to transfer insider Pete O’Rourke, who spoke to Football FanCast about the Red Devils’ pursuit of a new forward, amid claims by ESPN that the forward could be a long-term option for the Manchester outfit.
O’Rourke said: “I’m sure Erik ten Hag will want a proven goalscorer to come into Manchester United next season and there’s none better than Harry Kane.
“So, if United are back in the Champions League and showing those signs of promise that they have done under Erik ten Hag, they’re going to be an attractive option I’m sure for a lot of top players.”
A £44m price tag has been slapped on him recently by fellow suitors Bayern Munich.
This season has seen the England captain enjoy a quietly brilliant campaign amidst the unrest on the white side of north London, with the forward notching 15 goals in just 19 Premier League games this season.
He seems poised to once again attain a sensational tally, yet has been somewhat overshadowed by the goalscoring exploits of Erling Haaland.
Since his departure last year, Cristiano Ronaldo has left a large void up top for the Reds despite their upturn in form.
There are few players on this planet who could step into the shoes of the Portuguese superstar, but in Kane, they would arguably attain an upgrade on the 37-year-old.
Last season, where he notched 18 league goals upon his return to England, he was still only one goal better off than his touted replacement. This discounts the nine assists also provided by the Spurs academy graduate.
He is a consistently creative and lethal presence, with Chris Sutton lauding his proficiency for his country. He claimed that “Kane doesn’t miss those types of chances”, after dispatching from 12 yards against Bulgaria.
What further adds to his pedigree is his goals for England, where he recently equalled United legend Wayne Rooney’s tally of 53 as the greatest goalscorer in the country’s history.
He seems destined to break every record laid out in front of him, and a move to Old Trafford could help him add trophies to that as well.
Ten Hag has revitalised a club in disarray, and Kane could prove the final piece in his puzzle to truly mounting a title charge.
Ronaldo may have comfortably attained what his potential successor has done throughout his career with ease, but his attitude issues and dwindling influence saw him gladly granted an exit from the club where he first made his name.
Therefore, this move marks a huge upgrade on the struggling striker that left as opposed to the red-hot one that would come in.
