Manchester United have already made two signings so far during the January transfer window, with Erik ten Hag securing loan deals for Jack Butland and Wout Weghorst, however, he won't be satisfied with that as looks to strengthen further.

The Dutchman has slowly but surely got United back on the right track following a woeful start and the onus now is to bring in some quality signings and secure Champions League football next season.

The Red Devils have recently been linked with teenage sensation Ivan Fresneda, according to Football Insider, and with a raft of clubs chasing the player such as Arsenal and Newcastle, Ten Hag could make a big statement of intent by striking a major blow and bringing the right-back to Manchester.

His release clause of €30m (£26m) could turn out to be a bargain if he continues his impressive development and shouldn’t be a stumbling block for United in their pursuit of the player.

A move for Fresneda could also give the manager a licence to ditch Aaron Wan-Bissaka, as the Spanish youngster would give favoured right-back Diogo Dalot some competition.

The 25-year-old has featured just six times for United in the Premier League this term and it appears he isn’t in Ten Hag’s long-term plans, despite solid performances against Manchester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers recently.

Fresneda is seven years younger and has a much higher ceiling of development than Wan-Bissaka, which could lead to either a massive profit for the club further down the line or the youngster becoming one of the finest defenders on the planet.

He has been excellent this season in what has been a breakthrough campaign at Real Valladolid, averaging a Sofascore rating of 7.01 across nine matches while taking 64 touches per match, creating two big chances and making 1.1 key passes per game.

Not only is he evidently a threat going forward, but the teenage starlet can defend too, showing great maturity for his age by making 3.2 tackles, 2.7 clearances and 1.4 interceptions per match as well as winning 59% of his duels and it’s no wonder there is interest from the Premier League for his signature.

In a recent performance against Real Madrid, Fresneda was praised by journalist Matt Clark as he “shut down” Brazilian star Vinicius Jr on the night, winning ten duels during the tie.

He is already putting in incredible performances against some of the best attackers in the world so moving to England won't be as daunting as many believe and if Ten Hag does entice Fresneda to Old Trafford, it could be bye-bye Wan-Bissaka in the process.
