Although the indication is that Cristiano Ronaldo may well stay at Manchester United beyond the end of the window, the Old Trafford outfit will still seemingly need to find a long-term centre-forward replacement for the Portuguese icon in the near future.

Amid the recent uncertainty surrounding the 37-year-old, manager Erik ten Hag has also been dealt a blow by the injury absence of fellow striker Anthony Martial, with the Frenchman once again proving an unreliable presence despite enjoying a positive pre-season.

That has left the Red Devils in desperate need of a new striking addition, with recent reports suggesting that Napoli starlet Victor Osimhen is a "top transfer target" for the Premier League side following his explosive form in Italy of late.

The 23-year-old "monster" - as described by journalist Oluwashina Okeleji - has scored 30 goals and provided ten assists in just 65 games for his current side, having previously registered 24 goal contributions in just 38 games for former club Lille.

A real dynamic figure in front of goal, the £95k-per-week marksman also enjoyed a stunning spell at Belgian outfit RSC Charleroi during the 2018/19 campaign, scoring 20 goals in only 36 appearances after joining from Wolfsburg on loan.

The 6 foot 1 menace has proven himself in Italy, Belgium and France in his career thus far - albeit while only making a brief impact in Germany - with a move to an arguably more competitive league in England likely to be next on the agenda.

Any potential doubts over his quality should well be quashed by the fact that he shares a number of stylistic and statistical similarities to that of current Barcelona star, Robert Lewandowski, as per FBref, with that of particular interest considering the Poland international was linked with a move to the Theatre of Dreams earlier in the window.

That comparison is rubberstamped by the fact that both rank highly among their peers across Europe's top five leagues with regards to non-penalty goals, with Osimhen ranking in the top 5% in that regard, while Lewandowski is only just ahead as he ranks in the top 1%.

Equally, the two men are also closely mirrored with regards to shots on goal, with the latter man averaging 4.26 per 90, with the Naples ace averaging 4.21 per 90, proving themselves a real potent threat in attack.

It is also worth noting that the Lagos-born hotshot had even been touted as a possible replacement for the 34-year-old at his former club Bayern Munich, with the veteran figure having only recently traded life in Bavaria for Catalonia.

With Lewandowski a player of certified star quality - having scored a staggering haul of 513 goals to date in just 679 club career games - it no doubt bodes well for United if they are to make a move to his potential heir apparent, Osimhen.
