Erik ten Hag is now in his second window in charge of the club and could want to add more players to his roster, after signing the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia in the summer.
One area in which the Dutchman could look to strengthen is the attacking department and Burnley centre-forward Wout Weghorst could be on his way to Old Trafford in the coming weeks.
Journalist Ryan Taylor recently told GIVEMESPORT that the forward “would love” to sign for the Red Devils and said: “I think it will happen. I think there are a lot of indications so far that the deal is very much on the right track.”
The striker, who was dubbed a World Cup “hero” by journalist Alex Brotherton, has scored 172 goals throughout his club career and would come in as an experienced, short-term, option who could be a reliable back-up in the squad.
This could make him the club’s next Odion Ighalo by coming in as a striker to take a load off the shoulders of the current forwards at Old Trafford.
Weghorst could now have a similar impact by joining for the second half of the season. He is an experienced striker who has already had time playing in the Premier League after making 20 appearances for Burnley last term – scoring twice and assisting three.
The Dutch international has plundered nine goals and four assists in 18 appearances for Besiktas this season and proved himself to be a reliable scorer during his time in Germany as he scored 59 goals and assisted 20 in 118 outings for Wolfsburg.
These statistics, along with his two goals in four appearances at the World Cup in Qatar in 2022, indicate that he has the potential to provide an added threat to ten Hag’s list of options at the top end of the pitch.
He may only be behind the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial but he could be a useful substitute to bring on in matches, which was shown in full effect as he came off the bench to score twice against Argentina last month.
