Manchester United exploring the possibility of signing Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.

What’s the word?

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who spoke to GIVEMESPORT about their reported interest:

“It’s true that Manchester United have been exploring this possibility also months ago.

“It was in February or March when they were exploring the possibilities and the conditions of this Tielemans deal.”

Imagine him and Frenkie

With Manchester United often embroiled in long-running transfer sagas, perhaps this could be a deal that happens quicker due to their interest stretching back to early 2022.

It must be said that if Erik ten Hag were to swoop for both Frenkie de Jong and Tielemans, he would quickly create one of the better midfields in the league, something that no doubt leaves supporters delighted.

Funnily enough, both the Netherlands international and the Belgian international boast the exact same SofaScore rating of 7.08 over the season, further exemplifying how they would make an equally consistent pairing in the engine room at Old Trafford.

Tielemans also adds creativity in the midfield from deep, and actually popped up with a respectable six goals and four assists last season in the league.

However, it is his passing that would truly excite fans of the club. He can control a game from midfield, dictating the tempo and spreading play across the park.

He ranks in the 88th percentile for progressive passes and actually averages a remarkably high 1.86 total shots per 90.

This proficiency for progressive passes marries perfectly with De Jong, who sits in the 95th percentile for progressive passes received.

With both just 25 years old, it appears that these midfielders seem to fit together perfectly. Whilst the Dutchman is not short of world-famous plaudits, Brendan Rodgers was quick to tout Tielemans as “one of Europe’s top midfielders."

The two share an eery amount of similarities, whilst all the stats suggest they would play perfectly together. Ten Hag must make a no-brainer decision to unite the pair and help propel the Red Devils up the league table.
