Manchester United are interested in making a sensational move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar this summer after it was revealed he could depart the French club.

What's the story?

According to French outlet RMC Sport, Neymar is open to leaving the Parc des Princes after feeling targeted by president Nasser Al-Khelaifi who told Le Parisien "we expect all players to do a lot more than last season" when asked about the Brazilian's future.

Neymar has failed to perform to the levels expected of him in recent seasons and it has led to criticism from the club's fanbase. The player has always said how he needs to feel loved by the club in order to perform at his best.

If this latest setback does lead to his departure, then RMC claim that United are one of several clubs who would be interested in signing the player, but they would face competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Newcastle United.

Imagine him & Ronaldo

Whilst it might be a big if at this stage, imagine what Neymar moving to Old Trafford would look like. The 30-year-old is known for his partnership with superstar Lionel Messi, so if he was to link up with Cristiano Ronaldo it would be interesting to watch.

He's arguably more similar to Messi than Ronaldo, so as a winger, perhaps he could perform better at United by linking up with Ronaldo who's a more traditional number nine.

Although he hasn't been at the levels we know he can get to recently, his overall record speaks for itself. In 464 professional games, he's scored 275 career goals and assisted 171.

He's been described as "incredible" by Brazil legend Zico and it's hard to disagree. Sure, he's had his critics over the years but he really is a world-class player that any team would be lucky to have.

Perhaps United should focus their attention elsewhere, but if someone like Neymar comes onto the market it's hard for a club of their size to ignore.

However, he will come with a hefty wage bill - currently, he is being paid £606k per week by the French champions.

But the potential commercial opportunities a move brings could solve that and it will appeal to the Glazers, so why not have two superstars instead of just one?
