Bosnich says David Beckham deal is possible

David Beckham, LA Galaxy midfielderFormer Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich believes there is still a possibility of David Beckham moving to the Australian A-League, despite the England legend’s agent dismissing the potential transfer.

Rumours have speculated that with Beckham’s contract at LA Galaxy winding down, and suggestions that Goldenballs is beginning to feel the pace in the MLS, the ex-England international could move to Australia and join up with the likes of Emile Heskey and Alessandro Del Piero who currently play for the Newcastle Jets and Sydney FC respectively.

A spokesman for the former England Captain has denied the move, telling reporters “there are absolutely no plans to play in Australia, he is completely focused on the MLS playoffs and winning another Championship with the Galaxy.”

However, former Australian international Mark Bosnich, who was a team-mate of Beckham’s during their time at Manchester United, revealed in an interview with Sky Sports News that a deal is still possible. David Gallop, CEO of Football Federation Australia, has suggested a 10-game guest-stint-deal starting in mid January.

The Aussie Keeper believes that Beckham could be denying the rumours due to inappropriate timing. LA Galaxy are amid playoff games for the MLS title, and also in the Conacaf Champions League.

Bosnich told Sky Sports News that contact has been made between Beckham’s agent and representatives in Australia.

“I can definitely confirm there has been contact made between Beckham’s representatives and the agent here who brought LA Galaxy out here [for exhibition matches] over the last five years,” said the former Man United player, who works as a pundit for Fox Australia.

“Every time he’s come here with L.A. Galaxy there’s been sell out crowd.

“I think everybody’s seen the impact David Beckham’s had in America. We’re looking to do the same thing over here in Australia, to take it [the A-League] a step further into the hearts and minds of sports lovers,” he added.
