In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, Steve Howey, who made 150 appearances for Newcastle United, has revealed that Amanda Staveley would have made the Magpies one of the richest clubs in the world.

Mike Ashley thought he had finally got out of Newcastle when he accepted a big from Staveley's consortium last year before the Premier League stepped in because they couldn't tell who would be running the club.

The Premier League and Ashley's lawyers are in a legal battle to try and settle their dispute with the Newcastle owner claiming the potential new owners weren't treated fairly.

Speaking on how Newcastle could've become a financial powerhouse and how their fans would've been in for a ride, Howey told FFC:

"Newcastle could've gone from being where they are now to possibly the richest club in the world and that's what you want, investment.

"Obviously, if Newcastle got somebody like Amanda Staveley and her Consortium, then you know that you would be in for a decent ride."

James Pallotta, the former Roma owner, spoke to The Athletic, where he name-dropped Newcastle United which fuelled talk over him preparing a bid.

Mike Ashley has informed people that he is still fully committed to selling the club to Staveley and her consortium which is backed by PIF.
