Exclusive: Rob Lee slams Almiron’s comments about Newcastle

In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, Rob Lee, who made 267 Premier League appearances for Newcastle United, has slammed Miguel Almiron for his comments about wanting to play in a different team, and labelled it “direspectful”.

The £42,000-a-week midfielder admitted to Paraguayan radio station ABC Cardinal that he would like to play in a team that fights more, which came a week after the Magpies’ 3-0 defeat to Brighton.

Should Miguel Almiron leave Newcastle?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Almiron’s agent created a lot of noise at the beginning of the season claiming big European clubs such as Atletico Madrid were looking at the midfielder, which coincided with Steve Bruce not starting the Paraguayan.

Speaking on what he would have done in reaction to Almiron’s comments and how it will make the players feel, Lee told FFC:

I’d be having a massive argument with him, whether it’s been lost in translation or not like it often is with foreign players, but I’d be having a word with him.

“It is really disrespectful so I hope he hasn’t meant that and I wouldn’t start shouting aspersions at everybody else and accusing your teammates when you haven’t done your job.”

Who was Newcastle's top goal scorer during their Europa League campaign?

The 28-year old is Newcastle’s second top scorer this season and has stepped up at both ends of the pitch this season with his winning brace against Southampton and a goal line clearance against Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday.

Almiron has been deployed in a number of positions this season proving his versatility and the Magpies missed him when he was out injured before the international break.
