Newcastle fans unleash at Phil Jones transfer link

Newcastle United fans have been sent into an uproar on social media following latest transfer speculation linking them with a move for Phil Jones.

According to the Mirror, the Magpies are set to hand the Manchester United centre-back a chance to remain in the top-flight as manager Steve Bruce is keen to clinch him this summer.

Would Phil Jones be a good signing for Newcastle?

Hell yes!

Hell yes!

Not a chance!

Not a chance!

The 28-year-old could be free to leave the Red Devils for £12m with game time hard to come by under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the Norwegian has opted for skipper Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof as his first-choice pairing.

It’s fair to say that supporters at St James’ Park are not behind the move, considering their reactions below.

Here’s what has been said…

Of what could actually be published, Jones was blasted for being a “clown” as well as a “donkey” whilst one supporter claimed he would be an “absolute waste of money” as he isn’t up to the standards of the Premier League.

A further member of the Magpies faithful went as far as saying that it would be “rock bottom” for the club if they signed the Englishman.

This was reinforced by others who slammed him for being “rubbish” and “garbage.”

It has led to question marks over whether Newcastle are actually in need of signing another centre-back.

Currently, Steve Bruce has an array of options to choose from, no fewer than five in fact with captain Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar, Federico Fernandez, Ciaran Clark and Florian Lejeune all at his disposal.

Which is why some fans are claiming that Jones isn’t an upgrade on any of the above…

One supporter made a bold comparison to Steven Taylor, who left Tyneside after over ten years at the club with injuries wreaking havoc to his career.

While others were not surprised that a manager like Bruce was in for Jones with a further fan believing the 59-year-old should face the sack if these reports are true before suggesting that there were better options out there.

Is life under Ashley really that bad? Maybe this quiz will change your minds, Newcastle fans…
