Newcastle are enjoying a fantastic run of form in the Premier League as they are currently on a six-game unbeaten run in the division.

Eddie Howe has guided the team outside of the relegation zone after coming in to rescue their terrible start to the campaign, with a number of players improving since his arrival.

One player, however, who has not had the best of times since the Englishman joined is wide player Miguel Almiron, who has found game time hard to come by. The dud has not started a match since the 19th of December and is on zero goals and zero assists in the top-flight.

During Steve Bruce's reign at the club, Almiron caused a storm after saying that he would prefer to be in a team that "fights" more.

Ex-Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer then blasted him in an interview with Football FanCast for his accusation and what it could result in behind the scenes, saying: “Him making that comment now is going to create more problems within the dressing room because players are going to turn around and say, ‘well you’re accusing me of not fighting then for the club?'”

His issues off the pitch and his dreadful statistics on it suggest that Howe must brutally axe him from the squad in the summer. The ex-Bournemouth coach must move him on and look to replace with him another winger who could make an impact.

One player who has been linked with the Magpies is Rennes forward Jeremy Doku and he could be the player Howe brings in to axe Almiron.

Paris Saint-Germain winger Kylian Mbappe previously hailed the Belgian attacker because of his pace, saying: "Recently, I was speaking with my father about a player who impressed me because of his speed qualities, that is (Jérémy) Doku, at Rennes.

"In 5 years as a professional, I have never seen someone from a standing start demonstrate so much power."

The teenager has averaged a SofaScore rating of 6.94 in Ligue 1 this season, after averaging a score of 6.99 last term for Rennes.

This shows that he has been able to deliver consistently impressive performances as he has maintained a high standard over the last 18 months, which is why the gem could be an excellent replacement for Almiron - along with the fact he has plenty of room left to grow at the age of 19.

Therefore, Howe must brutally axe the ex-Atlanta forward ahead of the 2022/23 campaign and push for Doku to be brought in to compete for a spot in the wide areas.
