Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe may be forced to have some words with his star man, Bruno Guimaraes, following the Brazilian's sending-off on Tuesday night.

What's the latest?

It was a night to remember for the Toon on Tuesday as they earned themselves a spot in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

However, there night may have been slightly marred by the sending-off for their Brazilian midfielder, Guimaraes, during the second half of the game.

Fortunately, his suspension will end before the final which will mean he is available to play in the Magpies' first trip to the new Wembley.

But speaking on his latest YouTube video, journalist Craig Hope has suggested Howe may feel the need to sit down with Guimaraes to rein in the Brazilian's frustrations shown during the game:

(6:30) "I thought Bruno was tremendous during the first half. I thought that was his best performance for a long time. Second half he started to get a little bit agitated, I don't know why, and the red card, in the end, wasn't a surprise and that's something perhaps Eddie needs to talk to him about."

Room for improvement

Guimaraes has become a huge part of this Newcastle side since he made the move to Tyneside just one year ago from Lyon in PIF's very first transfer window.

And the midfielder has impressed massively having received praise from many around the league with nine goals and four assists to his name in his 41 appearances (via Transfermarkt).

“Newcastle have got a really, really talented player there and the fans love him - and rightly so. I thought he was absolutely magnificent,” said club legend Alan Shearer earlier in the year.

However, his actions on Tuesday will surely have concerned his manager with the Brazilian now out of action for the next three Premier League games.

It certainly was not Guimaraes' finest game, although he hit the post in the second half, the 25-year-old did give away five fouls during the game (via SofaScore).

And it has to be said he was potentially lucky to avoid an earlier booking after he handled the ball when in the belief he should have been awarded a free kick.

But as Hope alluded to, it was apparent the Brazilian was growing increasingly frustrated during the second half at a time when the Magpies needed to keep their heads.

Not only is Guimaraes lucky not to have seriously injured the Saints player, but he is very fortunate that the suspension will see him return in time for the final.

Given he is set to miss three games in Newcastle's quest for a spot in the top four, it would be understandable if Howe sat the player down just to warn him against doing it again.
