Newcastle United have the chance this summer to once again dive into the transfer market and do whatever they can to strengthen their side as they did in January.

One figure the Toon picked up in the winter that has started to blossom in the Premier League is midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

Signed from Olympique Lyon in a deal worth £40m, the Brazilian has appeared in all 13 of Newcastle's previous league games.

The 24-year-old is currently on a particularly hot run of form in front of goal as he's scored three goals and provided one assist in his past three appearances.

Now that the summer transfer window is on the horizon, we have identified one other player that the Toon could potentially make a swoop for to further strengthen their midfield next to Guimaraes.

Having been linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher in the past, PIF could now launch a substantial move for the Englishman and test the west London club's resolve and ability to keep hold of him.

Should Crystal Palace fail to secure him on a permanent deal once his loan spell at Selhurst Park ends, this could also pave the way for the Magpies to swoop in and potentially get him to sign for them.

The 22-year-old has made 28 league appearances for the Eagles this season, prior to their clash against Leeds United on Monday night.

In those appearances, the England international has scored eight goals and delivered three assists, leaving only Wilfried Zaha with more goal contributions for Patrick Vieira's team.

One of those goals was described as “outrageous” by Palace podcaster Dan Cook on Twitter, showing the sort of attacking talent he has from midfield.

To further how useful the Chelsea loanee could be for Newcastle in addition to his prowess in front of goal, no other Palace player has made more pressures than Gallagher (684), who also has the second-highest number of tackles (64) to his name behind Tyrick Mitchell (103).

Moving forward, with Chelsea reportedly wanting £50m for their young midfield talent, Newcastle should definitely consider coughing the money up for Gallagher, who could well go on to create a formidable pairing in the centre of the pitch with Guimaraes.
