An update has emerged regarding Newcastle's interest in Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli.

What's the talk?

According to Spanish outlet Sport, the Magpies are interested in a deal to sign the attacking midfielder from Spurs.

The report claims that Alli is one of the players whom PIF are monitoring ahead of the 2022 summer transfer window as they make plans for the 2022/23 campaign.

Ben Arfa 2.0

Newcastle fans would surely love it if PIF are able to secure a swoop for Alli, whether it comes in January or next summer, as he could be the club's next Hatem Ben Arfa.

The French forward was a player with a flair for the dramatic as he loved to produced moments of individual brilliance to get fans off their seats. He was an exciting player to watch and was capable of winning matches on his own due to his dribbling and finishing ability.

In 86 appearances for the Toon Army, he managed 14 goals and 15 assists from an attacking midfield/wide position, including some memorable strikes. His goals against Blackburn (Jan 2012) and Bolton (April 2012) stand out as two of his best for Newcastle, as he showcased his incredible technique on the ball with a finish to match.

Alli is a player who is capable of similar moments of quality. The England international's sensational individual goals against Crystal Palace (January 2016) and Manchester United (December 2019) are just two examples of the brilliance he has been able to display during his time in north London, with the England international able to score goals out of nothing to win points for Tottenham.

The £27m-rated magician was once lauded as "special" and "amazing" by ex-Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino and it is easy to see why when you consider his record for Tottenham. Alli has 67 goals and 61 assists in 261 appearances for the club, including one season with 18 goals and nine assists in the top flight alone.

This shows that he has the ability to consistently score and create goals at Premier League level, whilst also providing the flair to get supporters excited and off their seats, just like Ben Arfa did. Therefore, Newcastle fans would surely love to see Alli arrive at St James' Park next summer, as he could be an excellent addition to the squad and become someone they enjoy to watch playing week-in, week-out.
