According to the Northern Echo, Scott Parker is keen to bring the shot-stopper back to Bournemouth for a second spell on the south coast.
The report claims that he is planning an approach to snap up the Englishman and that the Magpies are open to offers for his services.
Newcastle are in the market for a new goalkeeper and are set to bid for Dean Henderson, with his potential arrival leaving both Karl Darlow and Woodman in limbo.
His time is up
Eddie Howe must brutally axe the 25-year-old from his squad as the dud's time at the club should be up in the coming months.
Steve Bruce offered him a chance to catch the eye at the start of the 2021/22 Premier League campaign for the Toon but he failed to grasp his opportunity as he struggled between the sticks. He averaged a dismal SofaScore rating of 6.03 as he conceded a whopping 12 goals and had a dreadful save percentage of just 47%.
Woodman also made one direct error leading to a goal in those games as he fumbled a shot to allow Cristiano Ronaldo to score his first goal back at Old Trafford. This mistake led to Alan Shearer dubbing his display as "poor" and that summed up his Premier League experience with Newcastle as he let Bruce down.
He was a liability between the sticks as he let in more than half of the shots he faced in those four matches and he was swiftly demoted to third choice behind Martin Dubravka and Darlow.
The £3k-per-week dud was then shipped out on loan to Bournemouth in the Championship and failed to win his place in the XI. He played in an FA Cup defeat to non-league Boreham Wood and that was his only appearance for the Cherries in the second half of the season.
Woodman did not play a single minute of action in the league for Parker as Mark Travers kept his spot as the number one at the Vitality Stadium. Although, he clearly had an impact behind the scenes as the club are now interested in bringing him back.
His performances in the Premier League for Newcastle and his lack of game time for Bournemouth suggest that he is not set to challenge for a starting spot under Howe and that is why his time must now be up. The Magpies must make the most of the interest in his services and cash in on him whilst they can.
