According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic ace Ryan Christie is attracting interest from Newcastle.

What's the word?

The 25-year-old has enjoyed an impressive start to the new season up in Scotland, scoring three times and providing a further seven assists in 13 games across all competitions.

Now, The Scottish Sun claim that with Christie's contract at Parkhead coming to an end in the summer of 2022, sides are looking to take advantage of the situation.

The report reveals that French side Nice are hot on the trail of the Scotland international, with both Newcastle and Burnley also keen on him too.

Better than Almiron

Capable of playing more centrally or on the flank, Christie has the kind of end product that makes him an ideal upgrade on Newcastle's own Miguel Almiron.

The Magpies ace has struggled to see his hard work and endeavour during games really transpire in goals or assists, with the Paraguay international only managing a total of 14 total goal contributions in 58 games since his arrival.

Christie on the other hand is similarly industrious in his running off the ball, but has added a real finesse to his game now. His former teammate with the Hoops, Stuart Armstrong, raved: "He’s taken it to another level with Celtic and has been fantastic.  Even in the European games, he excels. He has so much energy. His technique is spot-on, especially his first touch at speed – that’s incredible. He just poses that attacking threat that every player likes to have."

In his time at Celtic, Christie has registered 35 goals and 33 assists in 107 games for the Bhoys, meaning he averages a goal contribution at a rate of one better than every other game. His arrival at St James' Park could give them a much-needed goal-scoring threat from somewhere other than up front.
And in other news, this Newcastle ace has proved his worth to Steve Bruce with a scintillating international display.
