An update has emerged on AS Monaco gem Aurelien Tchouameni in regards to interest from Newcastle United…
The report claims that Italian giants Juventus are keen on the Frenchman, whilst Premier League side Chelsea have also been linked.
Newcastle could make waves in the Premier League by securing a deal for Tchouameni ahead of the likes of Chelsea and Juventus. PIF completed their takeover of the club last month and they could send out a statement of intent by landing the midfielder in the January window.
If they are able to flex their financial muscle enough to tempt him to make the switch to Tyneside ahead of Turin or London then it could show other clubs that Newcastle mean business and are serious about competing at the top table. It would also send a signal to other players who could be thinking about a move to the club to convince them to join, knowing that other talents are making their way to St. James’ Park.
Not only would it be a statement to land him ahead of Chelsea and Juventus, but it could also be a terrific addition to Eddie Howe’s squad. The midfielder previously claimed that he has been compared to Manchester United’s Paul Pogba for instance.
He told The Ligue 1 Show: “People have always compared me to Pogba, because of our physique, and the way we played when we were young.
“To be one of the best you have to take inspiration from the best. I look at the way Pogba uses the ball, the way [N’Golo] Kante wins the ball, [Patrick] Vieira’s box-to-box style, the way [Andres] Iniesta, Cesc [Fabregas] and Xavi [Hernandez] use the ball. I love watching Kevin De Bruyne play.”
Pogba, himself, also hailed his compatriot, saying: “He’s not a boy; he’s a man. It’s a pleasure to play next to him; he provides a lot, plenty of energy, technical quality and extraordinary physicality.”
The €40m-rated (£33.6m) tank has averaged a sublime SofaScore rating of 7.25 in Ligue 1 across 12 appearances, making an outstanding 4.7 tackles and interceptions per game. At the age of 21, he is already showing that he can perform to a high standard on a consistent basis in a defensive midfield role and he could bring quality along with potential to Newcastle.
This is why PIF must ensure that they can get a deal over the line for the youngster in January. It could make waves in the league during their first transfer window in charge whilst bolstering Howe’s squad significantly.
