Newcastle United tipped for Kylian Mbappe swoop

Newcastle United could easily seal a deal to bring Kylian Mbappe to St James’ Park in the January transfer window.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to Emmanuel Petit, who claimed in recent comments cited by The Express that, despite the centre-forward being heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, Newcastle’s new-found wealth could well see the 22-year-old make a move to the northeast instead of Spain.

Speaking about his compatriot’s future, the former Arsenal midfielder said: “Anything can happen. We see what’s happened with Newcastle United – there have been rumours, and you never know what’s going to happen at the end of the day. Things can turn very easily and very quickly.

“I think he’s been frustrated and tired by the situation at PSG over the past year. We’ve seen some trouble on the pitch between players both at Paris Saint-Germain and the national team, which was reflective in his game and his mood.”

Do you think Mbappe would join in Jan?

Mbappe would kickstart the Howe era

Newcastle fans will not need it explaining just how exciting a talent Mbappe is, as the France international dubbed a “monster” by Barcelona manager Xavi is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in world football at present.

However, while his potential signing would undoubtedly help to improve the Magpies’ results on the pitch, it would perhaps be the knock-on effect off the pitch that would be the most valuable factor in landing the £76m-rated man this winter.

Indeed, should PIF manage to secure the signing of the £403k-per-week forward as their first piece of January business, it could kickstart mass arrivals with a number of Eddie Howe’s other transfer targets surely easily persuadable to make a move to the club, eliminating any potential concerns players may have about joining a side who are currently rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table.

However, whether or not the player who Neymar dubbed a “golden boy” would be willing to move to St James’ Park himself is another matter altogether, although with Newcastle’s owner’s wealth, as Petit suggests, anything can happen.
