Leyton Orient’s James Dayton has issued a statement on Twitter in response to his sending off at the weekend and has been greeted with solidarity by fans of the club.

Dayton dislocated his ankle in Orient’s 2-1 win over Sutton United at the weekend.
After sustaining the serious injury and being treated by physios, the 30-year-old threw his boot in frustration.
The referee subsequently punished Dayton for dissent, having allegedly thrown his boot at the official.
The red card, amazingly, was issued as he was stretchered off.
Check out the video below to see how Brazil fans reacted to being asked how Cristiano Ronaldo would perform for them in a hilarious prank by Pl>ymaker FC…
He has now issued a lengthy statement on Twitter, insisting that he never meant to aim his boot at the official and has confirmed that he suffered a dislocation.
And fans have rallied around a player who has been integral to Orient’s hopes this season.
Dayton has made a total of 29 appearances thus far this season, scoring two goals and laying on three assists from right midfield.
Take a look at the best of the reaction below!
Exactly what most of us thought James ! Referee didn’t show ANY common sense. Gutted for you mate – but chin up – we’re all behind you. We’re all in the #OrientFamily !!

Shocking treatment from the referee, who should have been checking you were ok not posing a few feet away. Wishing you a speedy recovery, up the o’s

Disgraceful that you was sent off for that, only red should have been for that challenge. Stay strong James

Disgraceful red card James.I’ve commentated on hundreds of football matches & I’ve never seen a more ludicrous one.U did so well 2 get back 2 fitness & it’s obviously a huge blow 2 u. I Broke & dislocated mine at Orient in 1992 in a charity game so know how u feel, get well soon.

The bad luck you have had is devastating; any real fan would know you wouldn’t harm our club. Really hope that your recovery goes well – all the best

So frustrated for you Dayts. The red card was absolutely wrong. I expect the boot bounced more than expected on plastic turf. Thank you for all your hard work. See you next season xx ??⚽️ #lofc

We are totally with you James. Whilst our emphasis is on winning this League, I believe LOFC should challenge the Red card to vindicate you. You are a great example of what our Club is about & we have had to deal with some appalling officials with no recourse it seems. Good luck.

Don’t think any O’s fan thought you had thrown your boot at the ref, hope you have a speedy recovery and not in too much pain
